What MFA is and why it matters
- MFA means signing in needs two things: your password and a short code from your phone.
- It is one of the most effective protections against unauthorized access, even if your password is leaked.
- MFA is required for every Estate Kit account. You set it up during signup, and you can't turn it off. It's a security floor for everyone.
Your two options
- Authenticator app (recommended): an app on your phone that generates a fresh 6-digit code every 30 seconds. Examples: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator. These apps are free; no subscription required. If you have a subscription to a password manager, many of them include an authenticator app.
- Text message (SMS) to your phone: Estate Kit sends a code by text each time you sign in.
- You'll pick one during signup; you can change it later.
Changing your MFA method
To switch your MFA method (for example, moving from SMS to an authenticator app, or switching to a new phone), email support@estatekit.com from the address on your account. We'll verify it's you and walk you through the change.
